This is actually something I see lifters struggle with quite often. It’s not something that gets a lot of attention, and that’s where do you place the bar in your hand?
You want that bar nestled deep in the palm of the hand. Don’t just grab the bar and think you’re all set, really dig that bad boy in and make it a home in your hand. Take it to the next level and make sure it’s secured before it comes out!
Another tip I’ll offer is getting tight with the bar before it travels out of the rack! Many do not do this and failing to start bending the bar with your lats early ensures you won’t properly take the bar out and set up in your lats. Get tight to that sucker as early as possible before the bar is handed out!
