Another great way to look at horizontal leg drive and the action of pushing away from the floor is to think of the cue “Push your foot through your shoe”. More specifically, push your foot through the side of your shoe. Doing this is a perfect example of how you want to perform your leg drive.

Why is it so important to bench horizontally? Well for one, you’ll have more force transfer into the bar, and two, you will not put yourself in any danger of having your hips come off the bench

Once you nail this concept you will feel stronger and won’t have to worry about receiving a red light for your hips
