I put together a video encompassing my entire bench press warm up routine. A proper warm up is so important not only to injury prevention but in order to set yourself up for success. A big goal of the warm up is to do just that, to warm up the body, get fluid in the joints, and prime the nervous system to recruit motor units effectively
As you'll see in the video, I start my warm up with my daily stretching routine. Not only hitting the upper body during warm ups, but also the lower body. After stretching I move on to various myofascial release. Important areas for me are the glutes, chest, neck, and lats
I then proceed to a general warm up to get my body warm and start breaking a bit of a sweat. Also included are many exercises used to start priming my nervous system and a few mobility drills to set myself up in good positions on the bench.
Check out the full video and feel free to use the same warm up or take some pieces away for the next time you bench
